Lego Mania
For Co-Ed Campers: Entering 6th - 8th grades
Instructor: Marty Frendt, Middle School Math Teacher
Schedule: July 19th - 23rd
9am - 4pm
Cost: $150
What to Bring: Sack lunch, drink, water bottles and afternoon snack daily.
Description: Building with the Lego Building Blocks is taken to new heights. Campers will build a robot using the Lego Mindstorm platform creating a program to complete missions on Lego obstacle courses, and use the Lego blocks to create the 'mission of the day' in the 'creation pit'. Campers will learn problem solving skills, how to share ideas, cooperative learning skills and have a great time accomplishing various missions with the robot. This camp will help create the necessary skills for those campers who wish to become members of the NCCS Middle School Lego Team during the fall of 2010.

World War II Through Wargaming
For Co-Ed Campers: Entering 6th - 12th Grades
Instructor: David McElhannon - NCCS History Teacher
Schedule: July 12th - 16th
9:00am - 4:00pm
Cost: $160
What to Bring: Sack lunch, drink, water bottles and afternoon snack daily.
Description: World War II will come alive in this one week camp! Your camper will gain a hands-on perspective of one of the most historic points in history. Starting with a simple miniatures game system, participants will work their way up to more detailed game mechanics, as well as learning how to paint and build the terrain to play. Campers will be challenged to, use their problem solving and strategic reasoning skills to the fullest. Participants will take home their miniatures at the end of the camp!

History Through Simulation Games
For Co-Ed Campers: Entering 6th - 12th Grades
Instructor: David McElhannon - NCCS History Teacher
Schedule: June 21st - 25th
9:00am - 4:00pm
Cost: $160
What to Bring: Sack lunch, drink, water bottles and afternoon snack daily.
Description: History will be close enough to reach out and touch in this one week camp! Your camper will glean a hands on view of some of history’s most famous events. Campers will have a chance to explore the mysteries of civilization along the Nile River, maintaining a city state in Ancient Greece, city building in Ancient Rome, the intrigue of the Renaissance and Reformation, and the glory of discovering the New World! Campers will participate in full, using their reasoning and creative thinking skills to the fullest.

Southern Historical Places Field Trips
For Co-Ed Campers: Entering 5th - 12th Grades
Instructor: Martin Frendt and David McElhannon - NCCS Teachers
Schedule: June 14th - 18th
9:00am - 4:00pm
Cost: $170
What to Bring: Sack lunch, drink, water bottles and afternoon snack daily.
Description: Utilizing day trips by bus, campers will investigate the rich history of their southern heritage. They will meet at the school each day for a brief lesson on what they will be seeing, then its board the bus and they’re off. Civil War sites such as Pickett’s Mill, Chickamauga, and Lookout Mountain will all be included. Hyde Farm in Roswell will let them peek at daily life before modernization. The Marietta History Museum and the Indian Museum at Reinhardt University will show them the progression of settlers to the Atlanta area. The air museum in Macon will give them a chance to see the machines that made history in the age of flight. All this and more mean there’s something for everyone at this camp!
